After watching the new “Blurred Lines” video from Robin Thicke featuring Pharell, T.I. and the lovely Emily Ratajkowski, I was left wondering. Besides being desperate for tweets and whatever else uses hashtags, I can’t stop thinking to myself how much better this video could have been if the art director had chosen to go down the custom lettering route. Then, from my personal years of experience, I can only imagine that maybe they tried. As so many commercial designers have pushed for custom lettering and bespoke typography in main stream media, I wonder what was left in the designers trash.
