The Mission Map Project is curated by Georgia Rew of PPC, Mike Giant and Joshy D of Rebel 8, and Benny Gold. The map is hand drawn and illustrated by Mike Giant. The goal is to create a map of the San Francisco Mission from the locals point of view only highlighting the best parts of the neighbor hood. These are a few videos of the documentary series with some of the local businesses highlighted on the map.

With half a million views on Vimeo, there’s a chance you have already seen this, but if not, it’s definitely worth checking out. Solipsist is a dance film directed by Andrew Huang… it might be a bit slow and long for some of you, but if you don’t have enough time to check out the whole piece, at least jump ahead to around 7:00… So epic!

Legacy of Letters from Luca Barcellona on Vimeo.

Luca Barcellona is a 32 year old designer and calligrapher from Milan, where he runs his own studio as a freelancer. Letters are the main ingredient of his creations. Luca teaches calligraphy with the Associazione Calligrafica Italiana and holds workshops in several cities around Europe. The means of his work is to make the manual skill of an ancient art as writing and the languages and instruments of the digital era coexist. In 2003 he founded with Rae Martini and Marco Klefisch the collective Rebel Ink, with which he gives life to a live exhibition of calligraphy, writing and illustration. In 2009 he has worked for the National Museum of Zurich, with calligraphist Klaus Peter Schaffel, to realize the faithful reproduction of a big globe dated back to the 1569, using calligraphy with original materials (quill and natural inks). Among the brands that requested his lettering we can number Carhartt, Nike, Mondadori, Zoo York, Dolce&Gabbana, Sony BMG, Seat, Volvo, Universal, Eni.

House Industries just completed illustrating a tenth anniversary BE@RBRICK and a fifteenth anniversary logo for Japan’s Medicom Toy Corporation. Take a video peek behind the House Industries analog curtain:

As with all House Industries projects, Andy Cruz and Ken Barber leveraged their investment in graphite and vellum futures before inking the final images. Then in-House senior squeegee master David Dodde hand-pulled 60 black and 60 white tenth anniversary prints, 20 of which went to Medicom Toy. The remaining 100 prints are available from the House online store here.

No birthday celebration would be complete without and oversized homage, so Adam and Angelo Cruz customized a 400% BE@RBBRICK with a multigenerational merger of hand-rubbed copper metallic lacquer and hand-striped One-Shot enamel.

Bigfoot and Mike Giant lent their expertise to each grace a Burton snowboard design. Both of which are currently in stores worldwide. To celebrate this, SFO snowboarding is throwing a party with the snowboards and original art on display.
If you miss this gathering, the original artwork will be on display at SFO’s shop starting on March 17th and running until April 8th.
